#they still give people lie detector tests for god's sake

I went to a lecture by a retired detective about how much evidence contamination happens because cops use gloves incorrectly. This was also where I learned that (US) cops' DNA is mostly not on file anywhere, and they don't get swabbed at crime scenes, and their DNA gets all over the evidence both at the scene and later on. None of this should be surprising, either, considering they get almost no CSI training and generally have very little clue what they're doing. Cops have no business trying to solve crimes.
criminal profiling is just astrology for cops
#criminal justice reform#there is actual useful forensic science out there and there are people who have the training to do it properly#but the criminal justice system in general and your average cop in particular do not know/care what is or isn't scientifically valid#they still give people lie detector tests for god's sake#meanwhile when they do manage to gather useful forensic evidence they lose it or throw it away or never test it#and now we have shit like familial DNA searching (which is what helped catch the Golden State Killer finally)#but there are so many cases that will never benefit from it because the dumbfuck cops either didn't get or threw away the evidence#STOP LETTING COPS INVESTIGATE CRIMES THEY ARE NOT GOOD AT IT

Lie Detector
Entry for Day 3 - 20 Questions
AO3
-
It was a trend spreading across the internet, famous celebrities are taking lie detector tests and this certainly caught Chloe’s attention.
Maybe it’s because of her new life in LA with roommate bedmate Beca Mitchell, a multi-Grammy award-winning musician and herself, a high school teacher for music theory. Surely those professions aren’t exactly on the same ranking but, it couldn’t hurt to take that lie detector test, Chloe is just fairly curious. Sometimes her curiosity breaks through people’s limits.
Taking the lie detector test was an idea suggested by her seniors, nosy ones as a matter of fact - they Facebook stalked Chloe’s college years for goodness sake. When the news spread within the redhead’s music theory classroom that she personally knew Beca Mitchell and that their teacher roomed with her, Instagram stalking came next, Chloe couldn’t do anything to can her student’s loudmouths.
“How did you two meet?”
“Did she always wanted to be a musician?”
“Is that acapella group still running?”
“Are you two in love or dating?”
“Is she always busy?”
Wait, go back.
“Are you two in love or dating?”
It was a question frequently asked by Chloe’s friends, her relatives, and even her colleagues. The redhead would always have to answer dejectedly, no; they are not dating. They do the activities that people in a relationship do, other than the sex and mouth-on-mouth kissing, but they weren’t dating. Yet, there is one part of that question Chloe is quick to respond too. She is in love with Beca Mitchell and she can’t deny any part of it.
Maybe it’s because of how blunt and straightforward the brunette is or how compassionate Beca is. Her maturity level and the brunette’s witty sense of humor is what infatuated the redhead… the little bit of cleavage when the two first met also attracted Chloe. It has been over seven years since the redhead first fell for Beca, and she probably can never get over her. -
Beca’s home, for now, taking a small hiatus from her music career after arriving home from a five-month-long tour. Chloe took Beca’s break as a chance to not only spend more time with her best friend but to take that lie detector test.
Let’s just say after a classroom full of 17 and 18-year-olds pleading for their teacher to take the test with her roommate, Chloe finally gave in.
“So Beca…” The brunette perks her head up, shoveling chocolate ice cream into her mouth, Chloe laughs at the little ice cream trickling out of the corner of her mouth. “Jeez… anyway, my students have been… inquiring some sort of, offer that you may or may not be interested in doing.” The redhead utters, wiping off the ice cream with a napkin
Beca raises an eyebrow. “That’s a weird way to put it… what is it?”
“So uh, you know those lie detector test things?” Beca nods once, stealing a spoonful of Chloe’s strawberry ice cream. “Hey!” Chloe swats Beca’s hand with her own spoon, the brunette managing to steal a spoonful, sticking her tongue out playfully. “Anyway… do you maybe like, wanna take one of those? Just for fun or something.”
“Your idea of fun is being hooked up to a machine?” Beca teases, waggling her spoon around. She immediately notices her friend’s dejected face. “Hey hey, I’m kidding, I’m kidding.” She reaches to touch Chloe’s hand. “Actually sounds pretty sweet, I’m down.”
The redhead lights up, a Cheshire Cat-like grin spreading across her face. “Awes!”
A similar smile slips onto Beca’s face, a blush spreading as well. “Yeah, awes.” Chloe scoops her spoon into Beca’s cup. “Aw come on!”
“It’s payback babe.” Chloe winks, causing the brunette to immediately shut up
“Oh, whatever… where’s are we doing that… lie detector thing?” Beca asks, finishing off her ice cream
“I asked Aubrey if she knows anyone and her cousin's wife actually does those tests (“Wait were you already planning this?”). We can do it for free it’ll be fun!” Beca nods along with Chloe’s statement. “We also get to see Aubrey~ she’ll be tagging along.”
“Yay the dictator is going see me sweating my ass off,” Beca remarks sarcastically, throwing her cup in a trash can behind her.
“Oh please, as long as you answer the questions properly you’ll be fine. And Aubrey won’t be asking anything, just watching.” Beca lets out a monotone cheer. “I know you love her.”
“I do, she just… scares me.” Chloe drops her jaw. “Tell her I swear to god Beale I’ll still tell people you sleep with a nightlight.”
“Touche… anyway come on, let’s go before paparazzi ruin our hangout.” Chloe adds as she walks out the door, Beca still inside the ice cream shop.
“Yeah… hangout.”
The brunette follows Chloe down the street as they make their way to a nearby shopping mall to look for a wedding gift for Amy - she and Bumper somehow reconnected and got back together and are now marrying. Beca feels Chloe’s arm link around hers and finds herself more enlightened when making physical contact with her friend.
“Better tell the truth when the day comes Bec.” Chloe teases as the two strolls into a jewelry store. Beca rolls her eyes.
“Same thing for you Chlo… same thing for you.”
--
“Beca come on we don’t want to be late! Aubrey is already downstairs waiting.” Chloe yells, tapping her foot impatiently. She hears a thud come from the bedroom she shares with Beca and hears footsteps rapidly sprinting down the hall. She arrives at the door, breathing heavily as she stores a paper in her back pocket. “What is that?”
The brunette pushes Chloe out the door slightly and locks their apartment unit. “Questions I’ll be asking you. I thought I lost it.” The redhead slowly peers over Beca’s shoulder and the brunette begins to speed walk. “Nuh-uh Beale, gotta wait!”
Chloe lets out a frustrated groan as she puts her own list of questions into her purse. She calls the elevator to go downstairs to the condo building’s main lobby, Aubrey has been waiting for the two of them for about half an hour. The minute the elevator lands, the redhead squeals of excitement when she notices her blonde friend sitting on one of the chairs in front of the desk. The two share a tight embrace, swaying back and forth dramatically while a smile washes over Beca’s face. Aubrey notices the shorter girl and wraps her in a hug as well, the two are good friends after all.
“Let me guess… Beca was the one not ready?” Before Beca could intervene, Chloe nods enthusiastically as they all walk to Aubrey’s car. “Expected… you were late to nearly every Bellas practice.”
“Hey! My dorm building is across the campus from where we held rehearsals… and you're lucky I even went.” The blonde rolls her eyes with her smile widening as she starts the car. “But, glad to see you, Posen, it’s been a hella long time.”
“You too Beca. Now come on, I wanna see you two try to lie to one another.” The three pull out of the condo’s parking lot building as Aubrey inserts the directions to her cousin’s wife’s clinic, starting the route once the car has merged onto the main road. Although the passenger seat was empty, with the exception of notebooks and binders containing financial information about Aubrey’s lodge, Chloe sat in the backseat with the brunette, keeping her best friend company.
“How’s the lodge doin’ Posen? Last time we went was that retreat.” Beca asks, admiring the views from the moving car.
“Pretty good, it’s fun to yell at people every day other than the sore throat. How was the tour? Sorry I couldn’t make it to any of them…” Beca waves her hand dismissively
“All’s good, Chloe told me when she came to like… five of my shows was it?” Beca questions, turning her head towards Chloe who is fighting back a smile.
“Amy bought all those tickets! But yeah… I missed you! It’s lonely at home without you…”
Aubrey lets out a laugh. “The way you two talk, it’s like an old married couple.” The blonde raises an eyebrow at Chloe through the rearview mirror, merging the car onto the freeway. The redhead blushes and laughs nervously
“You’re not wrong… we had an argument about who was cooking dinner one time.” Beca adds, looking back and forth at Chloe and Aubrey through the rearview mirror. “Even though I burn everything except for Mac N Cheese.”
“Except that one time back in Brooklyn… you made Amy and me some dinner and we came home to the fire alarm blaring. We could hear it from down the hall!”
Beca and Chloe harmlessly bicker and tease one another back and forth throughout the entire car drive with Aubrey laughing along with every remark said. The two really did argue like an old married couple, the result of avoiding to tell each other about their major crushes on one another.
-
“Nice to meet you two, and Aubrey, lovely to see you again. My name is Madelaine and I will help conduct the lie detector test between you two.” The auburn-haired colored lady leads the group into a room where the polygraph is waiting. “I will be reading any sort of microscopic changes to your breathing patterns, sweat, and also blood.” Beca gulps loudly at the last word, she wasn’t very fond of blood - she once fainted after scraping her knee badly as a teenager. “Who will be going first?”
Chloe raises her hand up slightly. “I will.” Madelaine smiles at sits Beca and Chloe down on two chairs, the auburn lady grabbing the equipment for the polygraph examiner. “I will be placing these rubber tubes around your chest and abdomen, these will read your breathing patterns.” Chloe lifts her arms up as Madelaine wraps the air-filled tubes around her body. “Next up is the blood pressure cuff and, of course, will be reading your blood.” She wraps the cuff around Chloe’s upper arm. “And finally, this is the galvanic skin resistance, it will be reading the sweat emitting off of your fingertips.” After Chloe was finished being equipped in the lie detector gear, Madelaine takes a seat at the other end of the table. “Let’s start off with some basics… is your hair color really red?”
“Yes.”
Madelaine gives a thumbs-up. “Is your name really Chloe Beale?”
“Yes.”
The auburn lady smiles at signals Beca to start. Even if the brunette isn’t the one being tested, she is still sweating crazily from nervousness. She turns to Aubrey who is watching the whole event from the corner of the room, smiling at the brunette. Beca turns back to Chloe and pulls out her list of 10 questions.
“Do you enjoy living with me?” Beca asks lowly, looking at her friend straight in the eye.
“Yes.” Madelaine puts a thumbs-up after a moment of silence.
Beca moves down her list. “Have you ever held a party at our place without me knowing?”
The redhead tugs at her bottom lip and the corners of her mouth perked up. “Yes.” Madelaine gives another thumbs-up. “Just the Bellas, nothing too big.” Beca lets out a sigh of relief.
“Do you wish I was home more often?”
Without skipping a beat, Chloe responds. “Yes.” A thumbs-up comes from the polygraph examiner. Beca frowns a bit.
“Aw… I’m sorry. I’ll try to be home more.” The redhead smiles brightly at Beca. “Alright, number four… did you actually like me when you first met me?” The polygraph examiner pen frantically moves. “Friend-wise.” The pen slows back down to its regular pace.
“Yes, yes I did.” Beca turns to Madelaine and is given a thumb-up.
“Aw, see Aubrey I wasn’t that hateable.” The brunette says, turning to her friend who is watching from afar. Aubrey rolls her eyes and shoos Beca away with her hand.
Beca focuses her gaze back on Chloe. “Do you like my puns?”
The redhead mouths ‘sorry.’ “No.” An astonished brunette snaps her head towards Madelaine who gives a thumbs-up. “Your puns are just so bad sweetie.” Beca rolls her eyes as she moves further down the list.
“Oh, whatever… I know you love them… they’re punderful.” Chloe shoots a glare at her friend. “Hehe, sorry. Okay, do you really believe Lilly was possessed by Satan?” Beca notices the horrified expression that developed on Madelaine’s face. “Long story…”
Chloe slightly laughed and cleared her throat. “Oh definitely. Yes.” Madelaine narrows her eyes at the two and slowly raises a thumbs-up.
“Alright, number 7. Were you jealous of how much time I spent with Jesse back in Barden?” The brunette inquiries.
Chloe is taken aback by the sudden change of questions but remains calm. She knows she can’t lie, so she doesn’t. “Yes.” Madelaine gives Beca a thumbs-up.
“To be fair… I did want to spend more time with you…” That washes a smile over the two’s faces. “Anyway, you’re almost done uh. Okay, did you really fail Russian Lit three times just to be a Bella?”
Beca notices Aubrey break out into a coughing fit when the question was asked and Chloe goes pale. The brunette turns back around from a somewhat choking Aubrey and sees the redhead, hesitant to answer as the pens frantically move across the paper. “I… no.” The redhead says. Madelaine gives a thumbs-up.
Beca tugs at her bottom lip before reading the next one. “Did you ever date Chicago?”
“No.” It was true, the two never dated even after that passionate kiss.
“Final question then. Are you in love with someone right now?” Beca notices the polygraph pens rapidly write against the paper and then resume to its regular pattern. Chloe takes a deep breath and looks Beca straight in the eye.
“Yes.”
“Who i-
“Those were all true, good job, Chloe,” Madelaine says, as she detaches the equipment from Chloe’s body, the redhead lets out a gigantic sigh of relief of the test being over and done with. She develops an evil smile as Beca is hooked up to the machine. She looks over at Aubrey who nods her head in the general direction of Beca. Chloe’s smile only grows wider. After the test questions with Beca were over, the redhead pulls her own list out.
“Did you really want to become a Bella at first?”
Beca’s face scrunches. “No… but I don’t regret it, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Chloe laughs at how panicked the last part sounded as Madelaine gives a thumbs-up.
“Don’t worry Beca, that’s all good. Alright, do you enjoy the fame?”
“Yes… actually… no.” Madelaine says to say it once more clearly. “No.” Madelaine gives a thumbs-up. “Takes up too much of my time and it’s exhausting. But the fans are worth it.”
Chloe smiles gently at her friend. “Do you like sharing a bed with me?” She notices how red Beca’s face turns as Aubrey opens her mouth in surprise.
“N-no,” Beca utters, Chloe already knowing it was a lie. Madelaine gives a thumbs-down. “Fine, I do…”
“Aw, Bec~” The redhead clears her throat after Beca shoots her a glare. “Okay okay… do you miss your ‘ear monstrosities?’” Chloe asks air quoting the last words that were said.
“No.” Madelaine gives a thumbs-up. “It was a lot of weight on my ears actually.”
“Did you change at all when you dated Jesse?”
“I- yes I did.” Chloe frowns a bit. “It’s fine really…” Madelaine gives Chloe a thumbs-up.
“Do I ever make you uncomfortable?”
Beca furrows her eyebrows a bit. “No.” Chloe feels relieved and quite surprised to see Madelaine give Chloe another thumbs-up… she really thought the brunette would lie more.
“Number seven… do you enjoy it when I hug you?”
The tips of Beca’s ears go red as the polygraph examiner pens start writing rapidly. “Yes…” Madelaine gives an amused thumbs-up, laughing slightly at how flustered Beca was by the question.
“Good to know… did Jesse really break up because of the long-distance?”
Beca gulps as she looks anywhere else except for Chloe’s eyes, she knows she can’t lie at this point. “No.” The redhead glances over at Aubrey who is smirking. “Do you love someone at the moment Beca.”
There was a moment of silence. “Yes.”
There’s no going back. “Is that someone me Beca?”
Beca looks over at Chloe for one moment then back to the floor. “Yes. Yes, it is.”
Madelaine detaches Beca from the machine, saying she passed all the questions except for the one. The auburn lady waves goodbye to the three, giving Aubrey a hug. Beca and Chloe remain silent for a bit until the blonde leaves to go to the bathroom. Chloe turns to face Beca, but the brunette is the first one to open her mouth.
“For my last question… is that someone me? Only fair for you to answer since I did…”
Chloe smiles gently at the brunette before taking her hand. “Yes, it is you. For so many years, it’s always been you.” The brunette tugs Chloe closer and wraps her arms around her neck, pulling in her crush for a tight embrace. “I love you so much Beca…”
“I- I love you too Chlo.”
Beca looks up at the redhead and smiles. Chloe is the one to close the aching gap between the two’s faces, planting her lips onto Beca’s. Her lips are soft against Chloe’s and are kissing back with the same amount of passion as the redhead. Chloe could feel as if she could cry because she’s finally gotten the girl she’s been head over heels for. They pull away hesitantly and slowly when they hear Aubrey’s heels come back from down the hall. After seeing the two pressing foreheads with one another, the blonde knew what was happening.
A lie detector test wasn’t so bad after all.

Meet My New Roommate...
His knock on the door shouldn’t have had me as nervous as it did. It was only Neville for God’s sake. My best friend since college and colleague of some years now. Sure, his career was finally taking off and he was living out my dreams travelling, whilst I’m still stuck in the museum but that wasn’t his fault. That blame lied squarely at the feet of Richard, my boss, he’d never been fussed on me and like everyone else it seemed, just loved Nev. I stumbled around the apartment, mentally checking items off list. Kitchen: clean. Living room: tidy. Carpet: hoovered. Roommate: out. Hair: looking good. I opened the door.
“Adele, wow, you look great." He’d changed slightly since she had last saw him a few months ago, thinner, more worn, maybe it was just his new tan.
“Thanks, it’s so good to see you!” She hugged him, “Oh you shouldn’t have Nev.” He looked at her confused before remembering the bottle in his hand. She led him over to the kitchen counter.
“Only the best. Got this while I was away, had to trade half my share of the treasure for it.” He joked, “But before I get to that, how’ve you been? What was all the stories I heard about that mummy that went missing?” She was about to lie through her teeth when the apartment door slammed opened and Tamenuit stormed in.
“I swear to the gods I shall have my vengeance on those who test me. May Sekhmet’s rage fall just.” She froze when she saw us.
“Nev this is my roommate Tammy. Tammy, this is my good friend Neville, the one I told you about.” She was supposed to job hunting. “What happened to you?”
“You told me to do something I am good at. So, I went to the nearest temple to offer my services and did you know that women are not allowed as priests? Back in my country we had words for people like him, ser—”
“Tammy!”
“Well, it’s very nice to meet you,” Nev stood up to greet her, “How exactly did you two meet?”
“I put out an ad.”
Actually, I first met Tammy one day last spring, when I was about to do a routine scan on her 3000-year-old mummy. I was reading the results of the MRI scan we had just taken whilst my assistant prepped the next sarcophagus. I looked up when the idiot yelped, his glove was ripped from the splintering wood and blood was dripping on to the body inside. After that, some things were said. Mostly by me and none of them kind to him. Once I had sent him running, I went back to see what damage had been done to it, only it wasn’t there anymore. The mummy had just vanished.
I know that sounded dramatic. But believe me we were all stumped. Richard had called the cops who were equally as clueless. The surveillance tapes were just static as if they’d been fried and there was no evidence of a break in. I came to understand later that the mummy had simply just rose from the sarcophagus and went for a walk about. Tammy says she can’t remember much except for a shouty little man attacking her in an alley before she accidentally drained the life force from him. She likes to call it heka, which is some magical energy that sustains her. Whatever actually happened there, I think it scared her.
Not long after the police left I was cleaning up the lab- on my own, when she returned. Well it was more like stumbled in lost, she was still wrapped in the old cloth bandages she’d been buried in, along with a beaded necklace hanging from her neck. Her leathery skin only added to the gauntness of her exposed face. I’ll be honest, I screamed a little. It had been a long day.
To cut a long story short, there was no putting her back in the box, so I took her home with me. It hasn’t been easy. I mean the language barrier for one thing and don’t get me started on the cultural and age differences. Electricity wasn’t a simple thing to explain to someone new to the 21st century.
Back in the old days, my roommate had been a priestess to the great pharaoh Hatshepsut in the temple of Amun. Meaning she constantly sings and makes offerings of food and stuff to the gods all over my apartment. One time in June I found her down at the Hudson river, where she threw an offering to the god Hapi into the water, asking him for a good flood to bring fertile land. I then had to drag her away from fighting an angry tourist about pollution.
To put it plainly, she’s a nightmare. I’ve caught her on more than one occasion writing hieroglyphs on the wall of my spare room. I made the mistake of introducing her to the television, in my defence I thought it would help her assimilate better but now I can’t drag her away from her day time talk shows. And not to mention the death glare she gives me when I try to move my cat out of my favourite chair. My chair! She’s already cursed me and my future descendants for doing this sacrilegious act. I think she’s messing with me but I still sit on the floor, it’s less hassle.
She could also be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. I don’t know why I never thought about it until now. The whole thing with Neville’s great discovery. That could be me with the help of Tammy. Taking her back to Egypt would be like using a metal detector in a junk yard. Nev soon made his awkward goodbye which I struggled to hear over the mental picture of me telling Richard where he could delightfully stick his geography PhD.
“He’s cute. Boring but still cute.” She said after the door closed. “You two would never work out.”
“And why’s that?”
“I’ve seen pharaohs with less self-importance.” She shrugged.
“About that…what would you say to one day going back?”

Pancakes and Stargazing
Based on this prompt

Warnings: death by fluff could be possible

Phil had a surprise for Dan.
And he was 100% keeping it a secret until it happened, which was, admittedly harder than it would first seem.
He'd had the idea a few days ago. Being the hopeless, sappy romantic he was, he longed for sentiment. Plus he just really wanted to do something nice for Dan.
And this was why he was currently stood in the kitchen this very morning, wearing a rather inappropriate apron with a six pack (and something else) on it, and was making pancakes.
Beginning to sing to himself, Phil was thoroughly enjoying cooking, despite having maybe slightly burnt his first batch of pancakes.
He knew Dan was asleep currently and probably wouldn't get up until past noon however, so he definitely had time to get this just right and make the perfect pancakes.
-
Dan awoke with a long yawn and a confused face. Why wasn't his boyfriend lying next to him? Sure he knew Phil usually woke up first but his boyfriend almost always stayed in bed and waited for him to wake up (otherwise waking him up if he got too impatient)
Leaning over to reach for his phone, he was temporarily blinded by its light. The clock read 12:55. Okay, perhaps that was why Phil was out of bed, 1pm was extremely late and even in Dan's case.
'Phiiil' he called as he scrambled out of bed and traipsed down the hallway sleepily. He didn't bother putting on a shirt, knowing that Phil wouldn't be bothered.
'Phil, you here?' He called again, curiously stepping into the living room.
'Oh oh, Dan hey, morning!' A rather flustered Phil exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around the taller boy. Dan chuckled. 'I'm pretty sure it's not morning anymore' 'Well no, but you know what I meant'
Phil looked oddly suspicious in Dan's opinion. It was never very hard to tell when the man was hiding something, he wore a very certain facial expression. One that was grinning from cheek to cheek, and he had a certain light in his eyes that looked like he was dying to tell Dan about whatever it was he had planned.
'What is it then?' Dan asked curiously as he went and sat on the sofa, looking up at his boyfriend in interest. 'What's what?' Phil responded, feigning confusion. His expanding grin gave away his game even more though.
'Oh come on, like you don't have something to tell me Phil Lester! What?' 'Well I may have a little surprise' Phil teased, sitting down beside Dan 'be ready in five minutes and you can find out' 'Five minutes! Are you kidding?!' 'Nope'
Dan sprinted off into his bedroom to make himself look presentable, or at least less sleepy and zombielike as he did currently. What was Phil planning? The absurdity of it all.
Dan could pretend he hated it all he wanted, but he knew Phil's spontaneous nature was one of the things he'd fallen in love with way back when he'd first met the man.
'Ready?' Phil asked five minutes later, stepping into the room to find Dan wearing a black shirt (of course) and ripped jeans. 'Ready' Dan nodded.
-
The pair of them had then climbed into Dan's mini and headed off to, well, Dan wasn't sure. Phil was driving, which was a slightly terrifying idea despite him being the oldest out of the pair of them. He'd placed something in the boot before leaving that he hadn't let Dan see.
'Ah ah ah no, not until we get there' he'd said.
They were almost there now, so Phil said. And when he'd said 'almost' Dan really hadn't thought he'd meant they'd be stopping so soon. They were practically in the middle of nowhere, only hills and grass and woodland surrounding them, no civilisation to be seen. Surely they weren't stopping...
'Here!' Phil beamed, stopping the car 'we're here!'
He got out of the car and shuffled round to let Dan out. 'Thank... Phil what are you doing?' Phil had covered Dan's eyes with his hand. 'This way'
Phil guided the now blind Dan round the back of the car and to the boot, where he stopped to get out the thing he'd placed in there earlier. They then continued on walking until Dan felt Phil remove his hand from his face and then he yelled 'Surprise!'
Phil was stood, holding a picnic basket and pointing up to a hill. Dan was confused.
'It's not much, but I thought we could have a picnic up here, because well you see, tonight's supposed to be the best night in years for seeing shooting stars!'
'Oh Phil, I... you're so sweet, ever the romantic I suppose you could call it. But don't tell me we have to hike up that hill now?' 'Well...' Dan sighed.
The hike up the hill was a lot (and it totally messed up Dan's hair by the way). But once they reached the top, the two of them couldn't deny how beautiful the view was.
There were over hills rolling into the distance, with streams and rivers running around them. Forests were scattered around the place and the sky was completely blue and cloudless.
'So, pancakes?' 'You made pancakes?' 'Yep, spent all morning making them' Phil said proudly, opening the picnic basket he'd brought to reveal not only the homemade pancakes, but also various berries and syrup and chocolate things.
The smell was incredible. 'Fuck, oh my god Phil I love you' Dan practically moaned, leaning into Phil and kissing his cheek. Phil laughed, he knew how much of a sucker for food Dan was.
'So, wanna wanna eat and talk crap until the sun sets?' 'Sounds like a plan'
And that was exactly what they did for the rest of the afternoon. Phil fed Dan pancakes, which he somehow managed to get all down him. And the pair talked about everything and anything they wanted.
It wasn't long before the sun was beginning to set, and the two of them lying on the grass side by side and holding hands, having finished their pancakes. The light from the setting sun was bouncing off the hills and glistening in the rivers.
It glistened in Phil's eyes too, Dan saw, as he was looking directly at them. Their deep blue irises were enough to leave Dan almost hypnotised. He'd never thought it was possible to get lost in someone's eyes before he'd met Phil.
The reds and oranges and yellows from the sky also reflected all over Phil's face, making Dan want to lean in and kiss him all over.
Suddenly he felt Phil's hands rest either side of his own face and it seemed as though Phil had had the exact same idea.
Phil climbed on top of him and began by kissing the boy softly and gently on his plump, pink lips. Then he worked his way to the left along his jawline, up to his cheek, then his forehead, and finishing right on his nose, making Dan giggle.
-
'Phil it's getting d d, dark' 'You scared?' 'No! Of course not' 'Come here' Phil laughed, sitting up and pulling Dan into a hug 'For someone who constantly wears dark clothes and pretends to be all mysterious, you sure are a wuss' 'Shut up!' Dan mumbled burying his face into Phil's shoulder.
They sat like that for what seemed like forever, they were both just so content in each other's arms. The darkness was settling in around them and Phil swore he felt Dan grip him a little tighter each time he realised how dark it was getting.
'First person to see the first star wins a prize!' Phil proclaimed. 'Phil, why does everything have to have a prize with you for gods sake' Dan sighed, wriggling out of Phil's grip a little.
He noticed he challenging look in his boyfriends eyes and smirked. 'Oh it's on!'
It didn't take long. No more than ten minutes for the first star to appear. It was Dan who found it first, with a 'hey Phil! I found it I found it I found it ha!'. Phil laughed in response to Dan's excitement.
'What do you want your prize to be then?' 'Hmm' Dan thought tentatively 'how about another hug?'
Phil complied, pulling Dan back into his lap and engulfing him. 'You still scared of the dark?' 'I told you no!' 'Hmmm?' Phil teased, pressing his nose against Dan's. 'I just wanted to hug you because you're warm'
'Oh really, well why don't we test that with a little lie detector test huh?' 'What do you...' Phil leaned down and began kissing Dan's neck. He knew Dan hated people touching his neck, or at least he claimed to. The whole thing really, was just a lie to prevent people touching it because it was so sensitive.
Phil was sure he could get any truth of him just by kissing his neck.
He kissed gently at first, lips only ever so slightly brushing over the skin. But he soon picked up the pace and began sucking. And it was the sucking the broke Dan.
He was sure to have marks left there but that wasn't the part he cared about. 'I, ahh, Phil stoppp' Phil stopped for a second and thought Dan he had won. Turned out Phil had only stopped to tell Dan he wasn't stopping though.
'I'm not stopping until you admit you're afraid' He carried on kissing all over Dan's neck, even just the feeling of Phil's warm breath was giving Dan tingles. He couldn't take this any longer.
'Okay okay fine! I I, I'm scared of the dark!' 'Haha! I knew it' Phil said smugly, pulling away to look Dan in the eyes. Dan looked away almost immediately out of embarrassment, he burried his head into Phil as he had done earlier.
'Dan, it's okay to be afraid' 'Mmf' Dan groaned into Phil's jumper.
'You know, if you aren't looking at the sky you won't see any shooting stars!' Dan looked back up and scooted to sit beside Phil again, rather than on top of him.
'We can talk about things if you want, while we wait, to take your mind off of being scared' Dan rolled his eyes wishing Phil would stop bringing it up.
'What do you wanna talk about?' 'Buffy?' 'For God's sake Phil no' 'Hello internet' 'No!' 'How much I love to tease you' Phil smirked.
'Why don't we talk about us' 'What do you mean?' 'About all of our memories you know, things we've done, and maybe things that we want to do in the future. Unless you want to talk about something deeper like I don't know, social constructs and how most of the things we do day to day are...'
'Let's go with the first one' Phil interrupted. He loved the way Dan talked. So passionately and intelligently. The way he hated talking about mundane things and making small talk, his opinion always being that there were much deeper and more important things that could be talked about.
'Okay, well do you remember the day we met?' 'Of course I do!' 'When you picked me up at the train station and we went and got Starbucks and went on the big wheel' 'And a few days after when we saw that movie and kissed in the 3D glasses? You were so in love with me'
'Hey, you were too!' 'Mm, I still am' Phil said in a way so absolutely smitten it made Dan's heart leap. 'Always will be too' he continued.
This man was going to be the death of him Dan swore. 'Always?' Dan asked, looking over at Phil was what could only be described as puppy dog eyes. 'Even when we're old and grey and married?'
Phil froze for a second at Dan's last word. 'Married? You wanna marry me?' 'Phil of course I do!' 'Oh well me too... I've been thinking about that for a while' 'You have?'
'Yeah, it all seems very committed you know, like a final pokemon form?' Dan snorted. 'Phil we're practically married now, look at us' 'True' 'I think we could be someday though, you know properly' 'I'd like that' Phil decided.
Dan leaned into Phil's shoulder and felt his arms wrap around him, which he was thankful for since it was cold.
The sky all around them was littered with stars. Stars that lit up the otherwise dark and lifeless black sky.
It was then that one of the stars moved. It went flying across the sky, leaving a little tail of light behind it.
Dan gasped in awe, and Phil kissed him on the cheek again.

The One part 5
Song to listen to: If My Heart was a House by Owl City And another few years passed in a blur of Christmases, Thanksgivings and birthdays. Jamie and I grew closer than ever meaning my love for Jamie grew and Jamie slowly started to realize he was falling for me. It wasn't until he announced that he was going to enter the police academy that he started to realize and question how much Sydney truly loved him. He announced it over Thanksgiving dinner, which I was obviously there for. I was the first one out my seat to give him a hug, much to Sydney's annoyance. She figured out I was in 'love love' with Jamie by the way I held him to me as if I would lose him. It stung her heart but she could tell they just weren't working but would try to fix what she could. A year later I got a call from Frank that Jamie was graduating from the academy. I was excited and no sooner after I finished the call with Frank, Jamie called. "I'm graduating Thea! I can't believe it. I am going to be a cop and I am going to make Joe proud of me. The ceremony is the 7th of September. Can you make it?" I decided to play a cruel and slightly true joke on him so I could surprise him with a visit. "Oh man Jams. I wished I could make it but I have two really big tests I can't make up if I miss them. Not to mention they're for my degree. I am so sorry. How bout I come up there tomorrow? I'll have to leave early the next day to make it in time to study." "Oh, that's fine. I'll just uh have to see you after then because Sydney and I have a date tomorrow. Things between us have been kind of rocky lately." He sounded disappointed but I could take it because the expression on his face when I'm there will be worth it; I'm sadistic sue me. "Well then I guess I'll see you then.", with that we both said goodbye and hung up. You see I did in fact have tests for both Psychology and Criminology but the Psych wasn't until tomorrow and the Crim test was three hours away from that moment in time. I was actually doing some quick studying for the Crim test when they called. Yes that was a risky move to pull considering but I knew what Jamie would say. The hours passed and I took my Crim test and then headed to the closest StarBucks from my apartment. I decided to call Frank to let him in on my plan so he could help me carry it put, plus I wanted to know what all was going on woth Jamie and Sydney. See Jamie was a big daddy's boy and told him everything. I arrived and ordered a grande hot chocolate; I'm not a big coffee person. I took a seat at a table for two facing the street so I could watch people and cars pass by, I pulled out my laptop to work on a story I was currently writing in my free time and called Frank. I told Frank exactly what I told Jamie but that I would actually be flying out there the day before so I could make it in time to see graduate. I asked him not to tell anyone so it could be a surprise. He agreed but told me next time not to play with Jamie's emotions like that; like the stern loving fatherly figure he was. Two hours and all my hot choclate later, I was off back to my apartment to study for my Psych test and book my plane ticket. The ticket I purchased was for a flight that didn't leave until a good four hours after my test, leaving me plenty of time to pack and double check to see if I packed all I'd need. The next day rolled around and I completed my Psych test, grabbed some lunch from Panera and started to pack. I packed a few pairs of black ripped skinny jeans, a few long sleeved black and grey V-necks, a pair of black stilettos, a midnight blue dress for the ceremony and some sleepwear (this time I remembered to pack some sleeping shirts). I also threw in my hair products: shampoo, conditioner, coconut oil, body wash and dental hygiene stuff. I was prepared and by the time I was to leave for the airport, I had double checked and made sure everything I needed was packed, especially the NYPD shirt I made Jamie, not the best gift but Jamie and I were both happy with small gifts with big and thoughtful meaning. I got in the cab I called ahead of time and was on my way to the airport. I made it through luggage check and metal detectors and was waiting for my plane to depart when I looked over and saw a kiosk selling post cards. I grabbed a few for Nicky and the kids and for Jamie so they could see the nice little area I was temporarily located. Soon after purchasing the items my plane was called for boarding and not ten minutes later, I was on my way home. I unfortunately did not have a window seat this time so once we were up in the air and the stewardess gave the okay, I pulled my phone and earbuds out and started listening to music. I was just finishing up the song 'Knee Socks' by Arctic Monkeys when I was alerted that any and all electronics were to immediately be turned off for we were landing in ten minutes. I did as asked and prepared for landing; it was my favorite part of flying along with take-off. I loved the alnost weightless feeling as the plane lifted off in the straight up angle and the adrenaline rush as it landed and the speed that made you feel as if nothing in the world could stop you. Soon I was getting off the plane and heading to baggage claim. I hailed a taxi and was off to the Reagan's. I called Frank on my way to make sure Jamie wasn't there, which he wasn't. Almost an hour of traffic later, I had finally arrived. I paid the driver and entered the home. "Hey Bean! It's nice to see you. I am so proud of Jamie. He's carrying on the Reagan legacy." "Hey yourself grandpa. I know, I'm proud of him too. I'm glad he is following his dream. I wanted to surprise him. I had to lie and say I had tests and couldn't make i so hopefull he won't be too upset." "For all our sakes let's hope not." He comes over and hugs me placing a quick kiss to my forehead. "So when are you going to come back home? We've all missed you around, especially Jamie. I think he's finally realizing he's loved you all along. You know he has been having problems with Sydney lately cause of the police academy and what not. I can't see why she can't just be happy for him." "I know Pops so do I.", Frank said entering. "Well heyo Francis. And I one hundred percent agree with you with you and told Jamie soemthing similar not too long back." He came over and also gave me a hug which I gratefully returned. "So want me to call in for take out from Linguini's, I know it's your favorite Italian place?" "You already know hw answer. Heck yeah, oh, where do you want me to sleep?" Henry and Frank looked at each other and I could just tell they were up to no good. Sometimes I swear those two were worse than two old gossipy women. "You can take Jamie's old room." My heart jumped at the thought of being close to Jamie, even if it was just because it smelled like him. I nodded and headed up the stairs to his room, his scent invaded my senses and caused encompassing warmth abd euphoria to fill me. God am I clichéd but damn did I love his scent. I had it bad, I was so whipped but I loved it. He's engaged you nitwit! It ain't gonna happen so why keep putting yourself through this pain?" Well because good things come to wait self. Geez be more optimistic. After the short inner argument with myself, I put my stuff on the little couch stuffed on the right wall next to his book shelf and looked around the room for old time's sake. His room was always so spacious to me. He had a full matress in the midle of the room with a navy blue comforter on the top and I could see the dark grey sheets peeking out from the left side. The two windows on either side of the bed let in the moonlight. On the left there was a small desk with an old laptop and a desk lamp to which I turned on. "And Thea said may there be light!" I walked over to the black bedside table and picked up the picture there. It was from Jamie's fourteenth birthday. His hair was almost to his shoulders and he had his right arm around a thirteen year old me and we were both smiling at the camera. Jamie had a shit-eating grin plastered on his face because shortly after the picture was taken, he shoved cake into my face and ran off causing a cake fight to ensue. We got in so much trouble but it had been worth it to see the happiness in his eyes and his care-free laugh. I hadn't heard it very often since Joe's death. Sadness pinged through my heart at the thought but I pushed it aside, reminding myself he was in a better place and with Mary waiting to see us all again. Frank called up the stairs that the food had arrived so I pulled on a pair of leggings and snuck over to Jamie's dresser and pulled out an old basketball shirt. He's not here he won't mind if I borrow the shirt. I lifted to my face and caught a wiff of him. After I was dressed I went downstairs. As I walked into the dining room Henry and Frank each gave a knowing look and Frank lifted an eyebrow. "Don't give me those looks.", I scolded. They looked as if to say 'what? I didn't say aything'. I shook my head and sat down at the kitchen table. We ate dinner and went our separate ways.. Frank went to finish up some commissioner work he brought home and I went to watch a movie while Henry went to bed. I flipped through channels but couldn't find anything so I went to Jamie's room to find a movie to watch. I found the movie 'The Amityville Horror' with Ryan Reynolds and sat to watch the movie. After the movie I went to get a glass of water and take my anxiety medicine. Frank was still there so I went over to him."Hey, still working on Commissioner Stuff?" "Yep, it seems I always am but I wouldn't change it for a thing." "It makes me relieved knowing you're here making sureev everyone is safe and the job is getting done properly. It helps relieve the worry I have for Jamie now that he is a soon to be cop." "Me too and thanks Bean." "Well I think I'll hit the hay. Don't be up too late now. I love you Goodnight." "Goodnight Thea and I won't. Make sure you're ready by twelve in the morning tomorrow. We'll be leaving to get there early. I have a speech to make." I told him I'd do that and went to bed. I settled into bed and drifted off to sleep quicker than I have ever been able to. I think the feeling of being near Jamie calmed my mind and I wished I coudl fall asleep in his arms. The next moring, my alarm went off at eight and I got into the shower and thwn towel dried my hair . Once it was falling in loose curls down my back, I pulled it into a messy bum with a few strands framing my face and went downstairs to make breakfast. I made bacon, eggs and sausage and biscuits. The smell must have awoken Frank and Henry because shortly after it was done, they sauntered into the kitchen. I poured them coffee and sat the kitchen table up. "Morning Bean, I swear if everytime you come over you cook we will forget how to cook. You're spoiling us.", Henry joked. "I think what Pops is trying to say is thanks." "Oh she knows I'm just messing." We fix our plates and eat. "So what is he dress code?" "Just casual not too fancy or laid back." Once we finished breakfast there was only two hours till we had to leave so I naturally spent that time binge watching Supernatural till I had fifteen minutes left. I brushed my teeth, flossed and swished mouthwash into my mouth. Then I washed my face and got out my outfit. I stood in Jamie's room in just my black push-up bra and matching panties debating on how much dreadful make-up and colors I should use for the outfit. You see I hate makeup but it was a special occasion. The dress was a midnight blue dress that was knee length with a V-neckline that showed an appropriate amount of cleavage and had three inch straps. Around the waist the fabric was cinched to show off curves. I paired the dress with three inch black suede stilettos, my mom's necklace and a silver heart ring. I decided since I wasn't a big fan of makeup to just go with clear lip gloss since my lips were already pink, light eyeliner and black eyeshadow that made my aquamarine blue eyes pop and a grey circle to appear by my pupil. I pulled my hair down and ran a brush through it. I kept it down and natural, got dressed, grabbed the bag with Jamie's shirt and headed downstairs. We all met next to the door and left. "Where's the rest of the family?" "I asked them to meet us there don't worry, Jamie won't know you're there until after the ceremony. All the officers have to stay together in the order so it runs smoothly." I was quiet after that due to the nervousness. I knew Sydney would be there and so would a lot of other people and I could feel a slight anxiety attack coming on. I calmed my breathing and took deep breaths to stop the attack from worsening. We soon arrived at Madison Square Garden where they were holding the event. I turned to the two men to make sure their ties were straight we headed inside. Once inside we met up with the rest of the family and they were all surprised, especially Sydney. A sour look spread across her face when she saw me but I just smiled politely. "Well look who we have here. Bean! I wasn't expecting you to be here, Jamie said you had tests." "Danny Reagan! Since when have I ever let tests get in my way of big events such as this? Never. Exactly because I could never miss this and won't start now.", he smiled and hugged me. Next were Linda and Erin and then Nicky, Sean and Jack. "Hey Nicky,Jack and Sean when we leave I have a surprise for you at the house." "Really? Aunt Thea, you shouldn't have.", Nicky enthused. "Yeah Aunt Thea.", Sean and Jack agreed. I explained it wasn't a big thing and they ran off to follow Danny to our seats. Erin and Linda turned to me. "You really didn't have to get them anything." "I know. It's not big just some post cards to show them what where I live looks like. I've been promising to show them pictures. And thought they could keep the post cards with them." "Well that was very thoughtful and I am sure they will love them." I then turned to Sydney who was still standing off by herself, "I even brought some for you and Jamie." She just looked at me with hate in her eyes and replied,"Great thanks. I've always wanted useless paper." She turned and walked to our seats. "That girl just can't be thankful for anything." I just let it slide off my shoulders and told the other two that today was Jamie's day and that some spoiled woman shouldn't ruin it. They agreed and we took our seats. Ten minutes later, men and some women entered the big open area in their NYPD uniforms. Frank approached the podium and started his speech. I looked around to find Jamie but had a hard time so I tuned into Frank's speech. He finished, informing the new officers of their new responsibility to help make the city a safer place for all and congratulating them. Then suddenly the entire room erupted into shouts of excitement. Everyone exited to find their families. I was talking to Linda when she gently tapped my shoulder and turned me around. And there stood Jamie, a look of confusion, shock and happiness on his face.

Check-Up/Out
The office health check-up doesn’t quite go as envisioned but at least Kurt finally learns more about his co-worker’s relationship status.
A/N: This is the original Klaine-as-Vogue-Interns oneshot I mentioned at the end of my Klaine Advent Vogue Verse! :) The two fics are completely different except for being set in a verse where Kurt and Blaine both intern at Vogue.com.
beta’ed by @a-simple-rainbow who saves my fics from being scientifically inaccurate ;)
Rating: PG

“Alright, preppy interns, ready for your health check-ups?” a voice says right behind Kurt’s ear, making him flinch and literally jump up from his desk chair.
Blaine has a similar reaction a desk away from him, though the person who approached him was much kinder, merely touching his shoulder to get his attention.
Still. Blaine is almost always so deep into his work that one could talk to him about aliens and dragons and whatnot, and he would nod and mumble, “Yeah, sounds great.”
And not just theoretically – it actually works. Kurt knows this because it’s his regular five-minute break entertainment.
“Wait, what health check-up?” Blaine asks, thankfully just as confused as Kurt.
The girl behind Blaine’s chair frowns. “The whole office is doing health check-ups today.”
“We just assumed that would just be for actual employees,” Kurt replies, trying to be kind. After all, she wasn’t the one who scared him half to death after all. “We’re just interns here.”
He spares a look at the other girl – and, yep, still scary. She has her hands on her hips and a piercing gaze, seemingly ready to roll her eyes at people 24/7.
And then she actually does roll her eyes at Kurt. “Interns have bodies, too, you know? Even Vogue interns. So, health check-up. Now. Deal with it.”
“Santana, be nice,” the other one warns. With a tight smile directed at Kurt and Blaine, she adds, “Sorry about that. I’m Tina. Med student at NYU, Santana over here studies sports management. We have to do some health check-ups at offices around the city for a kinesiology class. It’s really nothing major, we just run a few tests to see how you could improve your health by sitting differently or adjusting some things at your desk and stuff like that.”
“For example,” the scary one – Santana – says, smirking at Blaine, “I can see from over here that you need to adjust your chair to a lower setting, Mr. Trying to Trick People into Thinking He’s a Tall Glass of Water.”
“Hey, no fair.” Blaine shifts, flustered, and fumbles with the lever under his seat. “I swear I actually need it this high.”
“Not convinced, shorty, but okay.”
Blaine pouts. “This chair sucks anyway. It’s nowhere near as comfy as my desk chair at home.”
Kurt is torn between scowling at Santana for insulting Blaine and chuckling because… well, Blaine’s vertically challenged and Kurt has been making fun of it – friendly fun, of course – ever since they started their internship together.
“I’ve been there,” Tina says with an empathetic nod. “If it makes you feel any better, we do give the office feedback on how to improve by buying new furniture as well. So… you might get a new chair out of this.”
Blaine shoots her a hopeful grin. “Where do I sign up?”
At the sight of Blaine beaming, Kurt suppresses a smile of his own. God, he’s so into this guy, it’s getting pathetic. But how could he not be? Blaine works at the desk right next to Kurt’s, always smelling like raspberries and coffee and just overall delicious, and he’s got a passion for all the things Kurt loves, from musical theatre to atrocious reality shows to fashion (which is a given when one works for Isabelle Wright), and he’s just so nice. Nice to talk to, nice to work with, nice to look at, and, really, Kurt had no choice but to fall for him.
But it’s been two months already and he still hasn’t worked up the nerve to ask Blaine out. It’s just too damn complicated. What if Blaine says no? They’re working right next to each other, for at least four more months. Hello, awkward silence.
Or what if Blaine actually quits to spare Kurt the awkwardness? He would totally do that and let Kurt get a career in fashion while he himself ended up in some low-level clothing store down the block. That’s how nice he is. Which is why Kurt can’t ask him out and let Blaine ruin his own career.
It’s a vicious cycle, for sure.
Kurt’s spaced out long enough to almost miss how Blaine is getting up and following Tina to another room. He blinks after them, shaking himself out of his thoughts slowly.
He flinches again when Santana plumps down in Blaine’s chair, turning it so she’s facing Kurt at his desk, body is wrapped in the tightest tube dress Kurt has ever seen (and he works at Vogue, for god’s sake).
“So, tell me about it.”
“I’m sorry?”
She rolls her eyes again. “You. Other intern.”
Kurt gulps and tries to look innocent yet protective of his friend. “What about Blaine?”
“You totally have the hots for him.”
“I…” Wow, he’s actually breaking out in a sweat. Who is this girl? “I do not.”
“How convincing.” Santana grins. “You’re lucky I actually do have some tests to run, otherwise I’d make you tell me all about it.”
“I’m sure.” Kurt narrows his eyes. “Wait, you’re not going to hook me up to a lie detector or something, are you?”
Still grinning, she replies, “Nope, we’re going to do a few exercises.” She gets up to get a dumbbell from the box she and Tina brought in. “And I don’t need a lie detector anyway. Psychic Mexican third eye.” She shushes Kurt when he opens his mouth. “Don’t ask. Most people don’t get it.” She gestures for Kurt to get up. “Alright, you’re gonna lift this up for a minute until I tell you to put it down, and then you’re going to do the same thing again, and I’m going to measure your posture.”
“Alright,” Kurt sighs. He really wanted to finish planning the big event of the month today. He’ll probably have to delay getting a good catering service until tomorrow. Even Kurt Hummel doesn’t plan a good party in one afternoon.
“Okay, go,” Santana says as soon as Kurt’s in position, ignoring his obvious unwillingness.
Kurt lifts the weight easily, quietly thanking his early-morning workout routine for preparing him for this. He briefly wonders why Blaine had to go to the other room. Maybe seeing Kurt lift weights would have elicited some kind of response that Kurt could use to assess if he stands even the slightest chance. After all, a guy like Blaine probably has an insanely good-looking boyfriend who can lift weights that Kurt can’t even look at without feeling pain.
Now that he thinks of it, Blaine has mentioned once or twice in a meeting that he lives with a model. Sure, he probably did it to put in a good word for his model friend who wants to land a gig at Vogue but… what if that’s not all there is to it? He lives with that guy. A model. Kurt curses the health check-up girl for making him think about this.
As if she heard his thoughts, she says, “Alright, down now. Feeling okay?”
She seems a lot nicer when she’s focused on her work. Kurt nods distractedly. He’s still busy visualizing Blaine with his model boyfriend. Kurt’s probably so not his type.
Santana makes him lift the dumbbell for another minute, and when he’s done, she types something into her laptop, humming when it finally gives her the results.
“Alright, not too shabby,” she says. “But you can see here,” she turns the laptop for Kurt to see, “that you have a tendency to lean backwards when you lift heavy stuff for longer periods of time. See how the second graph deviates from the first one? That’s because you leaned farther back the second time. You had a better posture the first time.”
Kurt nods silently. Maybe that’s why he had such back pains after moving into the loft with Rachel. But then again, that’s probably because she just doesn’t know how to properly pack boxes in a way that won’t crush her future roommate’s back.
The second exercise Santana makes him do isn’t really an exercise. She’s just watching him silently and taking notes while he goes about at his desk, feeling slightly uneasy under the scrutiny. She had told him to just check his email and type something into a blank document so he’d feel less inane doing it but, somehow, he still does feel a bit stupid.
“Wow, your health check-up looks a lot different than mine,” Blaine comments when he trails back into the room after Tina.
Of course he’d come back while Kurt looked uncomfortable at his desk, not when he was lifting weights. Of course.
Tina giggles. “You’re going to switch rooms in a minute, the check-ups are all the same.”
“Why go through all the trouble?” Kurt asks curiously. “We could have done this in the same room. We work together anyway.”
“Oh, you’re in for a surprise,” Blaine says conversationally as he takes a seat back at his desk, watching Santana watch Kurt. “The other part is a bit less PG.”
“I’m sorry, what?” Kurt chokes out, glaring at Santana when she tells him to just stick it out for a bit longer. He’s done pretending he’s checking his email. “What is the other part?”
“He’s joking,” Tina says quickly. “I mean, yeah, shirts off, but, uhm, that’s it, promise.”
“And if you’re a bit slow, like me,” Blaine adds, “you’ll think that she’s asking you to take everything off. Very potentially awkward. I’d already unzipped my pants.”
Kurt actually feels himself flushing at the thought, which is even worse now because everyone’s watching him.
“Are we done yet?” he asks Santana.
He’s glad she has her back to Tina and Blaine because she winks at Kurt. “Yep, you’re free to go. With Tina, I mean.” She chuckles. “For the adult part.”
Blaine barks out a laugh as well. Kurt rolls his eyes at him. “Glad at least one of us is enjoying this.”
For some reason, that makes Tina blush, and she quickly clears her throat. “Alright, let’s take you to the other room.”
Kurt follows her, confused, and lets her guide him into an empty conference room.
“Okay, this is going to be pretty simple,” she says, all business, “I’m going to take some notes about your medical history, all confidential, of course, and then I’m going to examine your spine. And for that, you’re…”
“Going to be shirtless, got it,” Kurt finishes for her. “Spoiler alert, Blaine.”
Tina ducks her head. “He’s… a nice guy.”
“Yeah.” Kurt shrugs nonchalantly, not wanting a repeat conversation. It’s weird enough to have one observant stranger approach him about his crush. “He’s okay, I guess.”
Tina doesn’t say anything until she has her clipboard out and ready, bombarding him with questions about his medical history, health issues in his family and sports-related injuries.
“Okay,” she continues, “have you ever been in treatment for back-related injuries?”
“Uh… nope.”
“And do you feel back pains after a long day of work?”
“No, not really.”
“Okay.” Tina bites her lip. “Is Blaine single?”
“Sorry, what?”
“Is he single?” Tina asks again.
“Blaine?” Kurt’s eyes widen. He actually leans forward to look at Tina’s clipboard. “That’s not on the list, is it?”
“Uh, no.”
“Right,” Kurt says, feeling himself getting more than annoyed with this stupid health check-up. “Because in that case, you would already know the answer to that question, since he played Q&A in here first… unless you asked him whether I was single, which I’m sure is very important to the state of his spine.”
“I’m sorry, this is unprofessional.” Tina sighs. “Forget I asked.”
“It is,” Kurt says tightly. Of course, he’s actually pissed that she’s taking an interest in Blaine in the first place, not because she’s asking – but she doesn’t need to know that. “Can we get this over with?”
“Sorry,” she says again. “Of course.”
The rest of his examination goes smoothly, though Tina seems to be more uncomfortable than before. Kurt actually sighs in relief when they’re done and lets her lead him back to his office where Blaine is in a similar position he was in earlier.
“How’d shirts and skins go?” Blaine asks with a smile when Kurt mirrors their earlier situation by sitting down at his desk to watch.
Kurt rolls his eyes when Tina sends him a panicked glance. He probably should file a complaint with her and Santana’s professor. Who sends inexperienced and highly inappropriate med students to do official health check-ups around the city?
“Fine. My spine’s alright, I guess.”
“Oh, yeah? Mine, too. Aren’t we one bunch of healthy interns?”
“Okay, you’re done,” Santana says. “If you want, we can compare results in a minute. I still have to tell you about your posture… Kurt.”
The way she says his name tells him that she’s only recently learned his name. Of course. He didn’t introduce himself. That means… oh no. She talked to Blaine about him.
Kurt briefly wonders whether he should take the high road, resign, and let Blaine get the good jobs while he himself settles for selling cheap jeans at the nearest outlet store.
Ugh, but no. His pride gets in the way, of course. He’ll let Blaine quit the job if he can’t take his co-worker having an unrequited crush on him. Maybe he can just marry Tina, if she’s so unbelievably interested. And she’s a med student, she’ll have money one day. Blaine won’t end up poor.
God, he’s too young to be this bitter, isn’t he?
“Hit me,” he mumbles.
“You’ll have to wait until the program’s ready to give me Blaine’s stats as well,” Santana replies. “Tina, fetch the printouts once they’re done, will you?” Tina nods and leaves the room. Santana grins. “So, tell me…” She leans against Kurt’s desk, and Kurt thinks he’s going to have a heart attack when she stretches the pause far longer than necessary. “Any model gigs one can hold out for in this place?”
Phew. Safe topic.
“Aren’t you a sports business major?” Blaine asks her.
“Yeah, but only because my SATs weren’t good enough for modeling,” Santana replies sarcastically. “Girl’s gotta have a plan B, you know?”
He chuckles. “Right.”
“So?”
“Depends,” Kurt says. “Are you with an agency?”
“No. But I have experience. Done some cheerleading, some cage dancing.” She says it as if that’s a typical launch for a model career. “And I literally had to kill people to get this placement today… that has to count for something, right? Can you believe if they’d sent Tina and me to, like, Target or something?”
“Horrifying,” Blaine agrees with a grin.
“So, can you hook me up?”
Blaine raises both arms before pointing to Kurt. “Me, no. Him? Maybe.”
“Me?” Kurt asks. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You’re Isabelle’s darling,” Blaine teases. “You’ve got pull.”
“You do?” Santana says, looking Kurt up and down. “Yeah, you look the part.”
“He really does,” Blaine says, and for a second, Kurt thinks he might have imagined a flirty undertone. But no, that’s Blaine talking Kurt up to Santana because he doesn’t want to deal with her himself. That’s all.
Though Blaine’s too nice to do that, isn’t he?
“I can’t really help you, either,” Kurt says quickly before he zones out again. Stupid crush. “All I’m doing at the moment is planning this ballet event and-”
“I can do ballet,” Santana cuts in, actually looking interested now. “Any chance you can get me into that?”
Kurt shifts in his chair. “Uhm… maybe… I guess I could talk to Isabelle.”
“Here, I’ll give you my number,” Santana says, taking a pen from Kurt’s desk and writing it on a post-it note. “Seriously, I’d be forever in your debt. I won’t even say anything about your humongous cr-”
Kurt sends her the look he usually reserves for whenever Rachel is saying something particularly insane. It gets Santana to shut up immediately.
“Anything to get me out of college. I hate college,” she babbles, and Blaine eats it up, immediately putting on an empathetic face and encouraging her to at least keep it as an option, plan B and all.
Kurt listens closely for any sign that Santana might blab again – god, he cannot get her that job at the ballet event, Blaine is going to be there – but before she can screw up, Tina comes back with the printouts.
“Here you go Blaine,” she says, a blush high on her cheeks, and Kurt almost groans, praying for the moment these two will just leave them the hell alone to finally continue working. “Kurt, that’s yours.”
“Ohhh, this is like finding out who got cast in a play,” Blaine says excitedly. “What does yours say, Kurt?”
Kurt turns the sheet of paper in his hands, trying to interpret the graphs. “I don’t really know…?” he asks. “Just a bunch of graphs. Oh, I recognize this one. It means I lean too far back when I carry stuff, right?”
Santana laughs. “Yup. By the way, if we’re comparing, Blaine actually did far better on that one.”
“I did?!” Blaine asks.
“Bastard,” Kurt comments wryly, making everyone laugh. “Pictures or it didn’t happen.”
Blaine shrugs, handing over his printout. “The stats don’t lie, Kurt. Just accept that I’m better.”
“You don’t even know which one of those tiny pictures says that you won, do you?” Kurt teases back. Maybe this health check-up isn’t that bad after all. The conversation feels flirty, and he isn’t even bothered by Santana’s knowing smirk anymore.
“Wow!” Tina breathes out when she looks at the graph of Blaine’s perfect posture. Kurt’s sure that she had a chance to look at Blaine’s results before and is just making a show of being impressed. Standard move. Very mediocre execution. Ugh. “You’re so straight, Blaine!”
Kurt can’t help but laugh at the wording. Santana’s grinning, too.
Blaine, however, is not. “What’s so funny?” he ask.
“Well, I wouldn’t exactly say that,” Kurt says, still chuckling.
“What, Kurt?”
“You…? Straight…?”
“Yeah.” Blaine arches an eyebrow. “And?”
Kurt freezes. “Wait… what?”
“No way,” Santana breathes out. “You’re not telling me you’re… but… I’m never wrong about these things.”
“Sorry,” Kurt says, suddenly picturing Blaine not with his model roommate but with Tina, taking his shirt off with her ogling him and trying to gauge whether he’s single. Or maybe he’s bi? But even then, would Kurt ever stand a chance against a model roommate and med student Tina? Oh god. “I just assumed-” The words die off in his throat. This day just can’t get any worse. He looks down at his hands. “Just… um, sorry.”
Blaine’s serious face crumbles like a stone façade in front of him and he doubles forward with how hard he’s laughing.
“Oh my god, I totally got you!” he exclaims, cackling. “You should see the looks on your faces.”
Kurt looks up again. “What?”
“I don’t get it,” Tina says.
“I’m gay,” Blaine says lightly and adds in a low singing voice, “Automatically-radically, ironically chronically, certainly, pertin’tly, genetically, medically gay.”
Oh, Jesus Christ. He’s citing musicals. He’s not straight. The world is still turning. Kurt actually feels his heart starting to beat again.
“Ah, that’s more like it!” Santana exclaims. “Well played, my friend, well played.”
“Wait, you’re gay?” Tina asks, shocked. “But… you let me give you my number.”
Kurt rears his head back around to Blaine. He barely notices how Santana shoots Tina a pitiful look and says, “Oh, honey. How many times?”
Blaine suddenly looks a bit chastised. “Sorry, Tina. I didn’t really think it would come up again and… well, you do seem nice, we can totally hang out… I could introduce you to my friend Sam. He really is totally straight, and he’s a model, actually, so…”
Kurt suddenly feels like Christmas has come early this year.
Tina, however, seems to feel quite the opposite. She nods, looking a bit annoyed with herself.
“Every single time,” she mutters, before she turns to Kurt with a sigh. “You could have just said something.”
“Me? What…?” Kurt sputters. “You just asked if he was single, that’s it.”
“You did not!” Santana gasps. “Tina Cohen-Chang, I’m totally telling on you. Giving out numbers, asking inappropriate questions… tsk, tsk, tsk.” She grins at Kurt. “What did you say?”
“Yeah, Kurt, what did you say?” Blaine asks, sounding curious as well.
“I told her off, that’s what I did,” Kurt says without thinking.
“You did?” Blaine asks, leaning forward. “Why?”
Oh god, he totally just gave himself away, didn’t he?
“I, uh,” he scrambles for an answer, even looks to Santana for help but only finds a scarily accurate imitation of the Cheshire cat there. “What else would I have done? It really was a bit unprofessional, sorry, Tina. And I don’t know your relationship status anyway, so...”
“Oh.” Blaine ducks his head, looking a bit embarrassed. “Well, uh, I’m single, in case you were wondering.”
Santana smirks as she finally gets up from Kurt’s desk. “Oh, he was wondering,” she says, pinching Kurt in the cheek. “Come on, Tina, we still have some clients to torture and these two clearly need to finish talking about… their stats.”
Tina looks from Kurt to Blaine and back to Kurt and suddenly slaps her hand against her forehead.
“Oh my god, I’m so blind!” she exclaims. “Santana, why didn’t you warn me?”
“And ruin all the fun? You don’t know me at all,” Santana tells her as she grabs Tina by the arm and basically hauls her out of the room.
The small intern office falls quiet pretty quickly.
“So, um…” Kurt says, “that was the weirdest health check-up I’ve ever been part of.”
“Definitely,” Blaine agrees. “So… how did you do at the desk?”
Kurt checks his printout. “Perfect posture.”
“Ah, damn.” Blaine sighs. “I slouch, apparently.”
Kurt nods. “You totally do. Must be that unnecessarily high chair setting, hm?”
“Oh my god, it’s so not!” Blaine whines. “I’m not that short, you know?”
Kurt grins at him good-naturedly. “Okay, okay. But you do slouch. You get all focused on your computer and then it looks like it’s gonna swallow you whole.”
“I should tell Isabelle you need more work if you’ve got so much time watching me do mine,” Blaine jokes.
Kurt feels color rising in his cheeks again and he gestures to his computer. “Speaking of which, I really need to finish writing this, um… this email… and I have some phone calls to make, so…”
Blaine nods, fiddling with the sheet of paper in his hand. “Oh, yeah, sure.”
They both go back to working in silence, but Kurt doesn’t get anything done at all with how hard his brain is trying to analyze Blaine’s behavior since the check-up. It almost seems like he’s… trying to get Kurt to say something. It even felt a bit like flirting. But… it can’t be? Can it?
“Hey, Kurt?” Blaine asks after about five minutes.
Kurt looks at his still empty draft of an email. “Mh,” he manages.
“Just in case any weird girls come into our office to perform some kind of tests on us and we get separated again and one of them is actually into you and asks me about your relationship status… um… what do I say?”
Kurt blinks, first at his email, then at Blaine as he turns in his chair to look at his co-worker who looks like he’s gotten all of that out in just one breath.
Blaine clears his throat. “You know. Just in case. So… so that this doesn’t happen again.”
Kurt tilts his head. “Are you asking whether I’m gay or single?”
“Or European.”
Kurt laughs. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but you have got to stop with the Elle Woods references.”
“Duly noted,” Blaine says with a grin before he probes, “But, um… single. Sorry. Full sentences. Asking whether you’re single.”
“Not a full sentence,” Kurt points out.
“Right.”
“But yes.”
“Yes?”
Kurt takes a deep breath. “Yes.”
Blaine nods slowly, as if he’s trying to process the new information. Biting his lip into a smile, he says, “okay,” and turns back to his work.
It’s the sexiest smile Kurt’s ever seen Blaine smile and, for a few seconds, he basks in the glow of being the one to cause it, before he realizes that he’s still staring at Blaine and turns back to his own computer.
It doesn’t take long for him to want to bang his head on the table.
“Okay,” he says, fed up with himself and with Blaine and everything. “I don’t care if this means you ruin your career in fashion tomorrow or if I actually die of embarrassment first, I’ll probably die of impatience much earlier anyway, so-”
“Wait.” Blaine actually rolls closer to Kurt to put a hand on his arm. “Why would I ruin my career?”
“You know what, that’s actually not important. I just meant-”
“Hellooo, it’s my career,” Blaine argues and actually looks like he’s going to continue, so Kurt puts a finger on Blaine’s lips. Yeah, he goes there. He has a freaking finger on his co-worker’s lips and he’s not going to overthink this.
“Let me finish,” he demands. “I was going to just ignore this but now that we’ve established that we’re both gay-”
“But not European,” Blaine mumbles against Kurt’s finger and Kurt almost sighs because of the very pleasant tingling. But only almost.
“Ignoring you,” he says instead. “Gay and single, I was going to say. So now that that’s, like, out…”
“Just like we are,” Blaine blurts.
“Oh my god, do you ever stop talking?!” Kurt exclaims, this time jerking his hand away from Blaine’s mouth. “God, just- go out with me?” Realizing that he’s kind of yelling at Blaine, he adds, much quieter, “Please?”
Blaine’s eyes are surprisingly calm on him. So maybe he’s not going to give up on his internship to escape Kurt after all.
However, he might have actually listened to Kurt and stopped talking – because he’s not saying anything.
Finally, he shakes his head quickly and breathes out, “Wow, if you had opened with that, I would have shut up so much faster.”
“Please just say yes or no before I die,” Kurt begs Blaine. “I really want to just know whether I should start working on my outfit or on my resignation.”
“Outfit, please.” Blaine shoots him a radiant smile. “If you stopped working here, there would be no one left worthy to pine after.”
Kurt feels like actually turning some somersaults. But he has a feeling that even with his good health check-up results, his back would object to doing that.
“You’re pining after me?” he asks instead, his heartbeat pulsing through his body excitedly.
“Duh.” Blaine nods. “Since the very first day.”
“Oh.” Kurt closes his eyes and bites his lip. “Well, that’s actually very-”
He gets interrupted by someone knocking at the door insistently.
“Come in,” he says reluctantly.
Santana storms in and grabs the post-it note with her number on it.
“Sorry, guys,” she says, clearly not sorry at all. “Just met Dani, the other intern. She will need my number way more urgently than you do. Or at least I hope so. Is she single? Don’t answer, I’ll find out myself. I’m not unprofessional like Tina. Who am I kidding, of course I am. But I’ve got the balls she’s missing. Anyhow.” While she talks, she scribbles something onto a new post-it note, then grabs another one and repeats the process, standing up straight when she’s done. “I know you don’t really need it but, still, the loss of my number is hard to cope with, so I’ll make it up to you with a new message for both of you.” She takes one note in each hand and sticks one to Blaine’s forehead and the other to Kurt’s. “Here you go. Now make Auntie Snix proud.”
With that, she’s out of the room again.
Blaine looks at Kurt confusedly. “Who’s Auntie Snix?”
“No clue.” Kurt glances at Blaine’s forehead, licking his lips. “Does my post-it note say the same thing as yours?”
Blaine spares a quick look up, then down to Kurt’s lip, and back up to his eyes.
“God, I hope so,” he says.
With another look, they both lunge forward, their lips meeting – finally, god, finally – a little off-center but so very rewarding and Kurt actually lets out a whimper with how satisfying it all feels. He barely notices the post-it notes slipping from their foreheads while they kiss but he does register Blaine catching them and putting them on the desk surface next to him.
When they pull apart for much-needed breath, Kurt glances at the two notes quickly, and chuckles.
Making out prevents back problems. I study this shit, trust me.
A kiss a day keeps Santana away. (And Tina, too, ‘cause she’ll know you’re gay.)
Kurt pulls Blaine back close. “Well, I guess it’s always wisest to listen to your doctor.”

What is the normal procedure for a car accident without insurance?
3 weeks ago I hit a womans car in Sydney with my friends 4WD. I did not have any insurance on my side and now the woman's insurance wants me to pay for the damage. They gave me a call saying the damage was AU$ 5760 but if I would pay AU$ 2900 in the next 4 weeks that would be it for me. Now Insurance companies are not known to be humanitarian organisations so why would they let me get away with less money? I also talked to an Australian friend today who said the woman's insurance would have to give me three quotes on how much the repair of the car would be before they start doing anythin. Being a traveller I feel like the Insurance company tries to take advantage of my minimum knowledge of Insurance issues. So could someone please explain me the usual procedure for something like this?

Damaged rental car. How much should I pay?
Hi. I was involved in an at-fault car accident while driving a rental. Here is the rental situation: The rental car was not insured through the independent rental company. My insurance won't cover it either. I was never offered rental insurance and there was no contract signed regarding the car in question. The owner of the rental company has a rent-to-own business as well, and priced the car at $6,000, but is letting me pay just $4,550. According to Blue Book, the car is worth anywhere from $2,100 to $2,900. I'm willing to pay for the car. My question is, do I pay what he is asking or pay what the car is worth according to Kelly Blue Book? If I would have bought the car before the accident I would have never paid $6,000. It was only in fair condition when I got it. Thoughts? Thanks""

Car insurance for young men in the uk... unfair?
I'm a 19 year old guy living in the UK.. and I get SO annoyed at how much more guys have to pay for car insurance. I understand that it's because some guys my age decide to drive like complete a*se holes, but that doesn't mean all guys do?.. and I really resent paying more, just because of the boy racers. Yes, most fast drivers are teenage boys. However, this doesn't mean that most of teenage boys are fast drivers. I drive a Hyundai Getz for crying out loud.. I'm not going to go racing in it! Grr! I simply cannot afford to insure it under my own name at my age. What does everyone else think? Ok, made my decision, going with the new 2007 Mazda 3 S (with the 2.3 ltr engine and all that good stuff...not really sure on the sunroof though, it's kind of pricey) My question...s are: 1. I was told that if I got a loud color on a car that I would regret it for a couple of reasons. It attracts the cops to pull it over more and it could potientally higher my insurance. Is that just some kind of myth to scare people away from getting a nice color like red or yellow? 2. And secondly, what's a good color to get? Something that's easy to clean, but still shimmers and looks nice. I was thinking about the Aurora Blue. Everyone has black and silver cars? 3. Car Accident without Collision Insurance?
i was recently in a collision the other day. i was traveling straight with the right of way, and i was hit by a driver turning left into my lane to cross the intersection. i do not have collision on my car for it is a 99 grand am, and the damage is enough to total the vehicle. when the police arrived, they did not site the accident, however an officer mentioned it is clear what happened but in the hands of the insurance company'ss. i called liberty mutual, my company, and they told me to get into contact with the other drivers. i filled out the accident forms and sent them to the police and registry. her company told me that she had already filed a claim and that they would be in contact with me. i have no prior record of poor driving. no speeding tickets, no car accidents, i have a red light ticket that i appealed and won. is there anything i should be worried about? is my car going to be covered and if so how long does anappraisall take. i took photos of all the damage for records. 99 grand am, 138000 miles, just passed inspection thanks!""

Getting insurance on a bike?
I plan on getting a motorcycle near the end of February. I have never bought a motor vehicle before, so I'm not really sure about how I go about getting insurance. I plan on getting something used from Craigslist (most likely 2008 or newer Ninja 250/300), then either having the owner ride it to my home before I pay, or taking it in a truck or something. What do I do after that? How do I insure the bike? I will probably get Progressive. Also is full coverage worth the extra money, or should I stick with liability? I'm 17 years old so it will be more expensive for me than for others. I live in California by the way. Thanks!""
I have a few questions about car repairs and auto insurance?
first off, i was in a small accident a couple weeks ago, and was wonder how much it would cost to have the following repaired: 1. the hood is very minorly damaged, there is just a small gap where the hood closes, plus a little scratched paint on one side (very minor) how much would it cost to have that straitened out? 2. when the front end got hit, it shifted it over a little, so there is a small gap inbetween the inside corner of the headlight and the grill area, how much to straighten that out? 3. also, in regards to insurance, is it allowed to have two different people insured on one car through different insurance companies?""

What will insurance on this car cost for me monthly?
Hi, I'm going for my G2 end test today, so hopefully I pass and get my G. Here's a bit of information you should know in order to answer this question assuming I have my G license: - I'm 23 - Male - I live in Ontario - I got a DUI in December 2008 as a G2 driver, however it wasn't a criminal offense since I only blew .02 (one drink) - I plan on putting the insurance on a 2004 Hyundai Accent, still in excellent condition - I will be a secondary driver on this car, my girlfriend being the primary I think that's all you need to know, If I missed anything that might help, ask, and I'll edit this question! - Thanks!""

Can i sue my car insurance company.?
I have had an car accident and made a claim through my car insurance, however they have failed to compensate me for the accident and rather than compensating me they have cancelled my policy claiming that i had provided them with incorrect information, which were genuine minor mistakes on my part, however i did not find out about any of these indiscripancies until my accident as my insurance company had not initially provided me with documents showing all the information i had provided to them to make sure everything was correct, they only provided me with the certificate. Since they didn't provide me with these details and a form to sign to say all the information is correct. Are they allowed to cancel my policy as i wouldve corrected this information if i had found out about it. And do i have any grounds to complain to the financial ombudman.""

How to get cheap car insurance?
Hi guys, i really need your a good and effectivr advice about this, please if you know something that would help post it here! Im 20 year old, have a car Peugeot 206 1.1 litre - cheap market value (1000ish). I live in London. Since 17 years old im looking for insurance - unsuccessfully. The best quote i get is 4000ish. I have no criminal record, no accidents no claims - nothing! And im fed up with so many people driving at my age and I cant- i just dont understand why exactly mine is so bloody expensive! Ive tried every variation just to see what im missing - pass plus for example only helps to the extent of 100. Its just crazy - 3 years and i still cant drive - what the hell is wrong with this - home come everyone is showing off by how cheap insurance they have and i cant get anything? Whats the secret? Ive tried every combination - me as the main driver/named driver/owner/just user etc. cheapest is 4,000!! Whats wrong with me? Anybody knows whats the trick, how to solve this issue? Thanks!""

""Did not want to renew the car insurance, they did it anyway.?""
Our car insurance was expiring on the 28th of may. We had all the premium paid by the end of march. At the end of april we got rid of the car. Couple of days later we received renewal documents from the insurance company. We have been with those company for 2 years, we didn' t make any claims. For the past 2 years we were paying 102 pounds a month. The renewal documents were saying that we only got the 1 year NCB and that our monthly instalment is going to be 140 pounds a month. I rang them on the 6th of may and said that first of all we have 2years of NCB and we want the documents from them proving that , second of all I have asked how come the instalment went from 100 pounds to 140 pounds a month the nice guy explained that there was a mistake (in their system 1 year of NBC was showing) and now it has been sorted and we are going to receive the proof of 2 years NBC and the monthly instalment is going to be 100 pounds. I thanked the guy and said that we do not wish to extend the insurance and I am only waiting for the 2years of NBC. He said ok and I thought it was sorted. We went on holiday abroad on 21st of May and got back on the 7th of June and imagine my surprise when in the post I have found the letter from insurance company with the certificate of insurance enclosed and them thanking me for deciding to stay with them and saying that my monthly instalment is 130 pounds!!! (because apparently i decided not to the the brakedown cover that i had before!!!!) I decided to call them first thing in the morning, but befor I did it i checked my account and of course they have already debited it with 130 pounds. I called them and the woman there explained that they were never informed of not extending the policy and that of course they have it registered that i phoned on the 6th of may with questions but they called me and left a message on my voicemail and apparently i never rang them back. She explained that all I have to do is to send the certificate of motor insurance back and then i will get the money. So i did. Once they got it they rang me saying that now they want the proof of selling/scrapping the car, WHY???I do not think it is any of their business. Especially that as far as I am concerned I am not cancelling the policy , I never wanted it. It is all their fault they did not listen. Can I do something about it, I have also got the funny feeling they are not going to give me full refund that they are gonna come up with something.""

Car Insurance quote suddenly disappeared?!?
I've just been obtaining quotes for a couple of cars I may buy - I'm 19 and looking to buy my first car. I was on moneysupermarket.com and noticed Admiral were consistently the cheapest company - so I kept changing some details to make the quote lower if possible, just messing around really. After around 10 quotes or so (with them being the lowest each time) I noticed that admiral was no longer displaying a quote and was now in the section shown as no quotes produced along with around 60 other companies. Why is this? Have I broken a limit of some kind? But why would the other companies still be there displaying quotes (albeit they're higher which isn't to my liking!). It's confusing and frustrating, can someone tell me why this has happened? I think I've told you as much info as possible but I'll add more detail if asked. Thanks.""
